Competition Terms and Conditions

Gen­er­al

  1. The organ­is­er of the “Replace the Waste” com­pe­ti­tion (Competition) is Green Industries SA (GISA) of L4, 81 – 95 Way­mouth Street, Ade­laide 5000, ABN 76 149 388 126‎.
  2. The Com­pe­ti­tion is in no way spon­sored, endorsed, admin­is­tered by, or asso­ci­at­ed with Instagram. 
  3. By par­tic­i­pat­ing in the Com­pe­ti­tion, entrants accept these Terms and Conditions.'

Eligibility

  1. The Com­pe­ti­tion entry peri­od com­mences at 12 am on Sunday 25 January and ends at 11:59 pm Monday 23 February 2026. GISA is not respon­si­ble for any lost, late or mis­di­rect­ed entries. GISA is not respon­si­ble for the accu­ra­cy of entrants’ infor­ma­tion or per­son­al details.
  2. The Com­pe­ti­tion is open to South Aus­tralian res­i­dents, aged 18+, exclud­ing:
    1. employ­ees of GISA and their imme­di­ate families
    2. GISA board members and their immediate families
    3. employees of any business or organisation that holds a current contract with GISA.
  3. GISA reserves the right to request proof of iden­ti­ty of all win­ners and/or proof that the entrant was responsible for the submission. Proof con­sid­ered suit­able for ver­i­fi­ca­tion is at the dis­cre­tion of GISA. In the event that a win­ner can­not pro­vide suit­able proof, GISA in its absolute dis­cre­tion may dis­qual­i­fy the winner.
  4. GISA reserves the right to ver­i­fy the valid­i­ty of entries and to dis­qual­i­fy any entrant sus­pect­ed of tam­per­ing with the entry process.

Entries

  1. To par­tic­i­pate in the Com­pe­ti­tion entrants must either:
    1. post a recent pho­to or video showing how they ‘replace the waste’ on Insta­gram with the hash­tag #noplastichack and tag @replacethewaste_sa
    2. email a recent pho­to or video showing how they ‘replace the waste’ to gisa.sup@sa.gov.au.
  2. Eligible individuals may submit multiple entries, provided each entry is unique.
  3. Incom­plete, inde­ci­pher­able, offensive or illeg­i­ble entries will be deemed invalid and will be rejected.
  4. By using the hashtag #noplastichack and tag­ging @replacethewaste_sa on your photo/video, or by submitting the photo/video via email, the entrant consents to GISA’s use of the photo/video, free of charge in future communications and promotions or other GISA business.  This may include the “Replace the Waste” and “Which Bin” Insta­gram accounts and Face­book accounts, on replacethewaste.sa.gov.au, whichbin.sa.gov.au and greenindustries.sa.gov.au, and in print mate­ri­als and/or dig­i­tal, out­door or TV advertisements.
  5. The entrant acknowl­edges and agrees that:
    1. it is the own­er of the Insta­gram account
    2. it took the photo or video
    3. it has consent from any persons in the photo or video.

Prizes

  1. There are 10 prizes available, each consisting of:
    1. 1 x $250 Adelaide Central Market gift card (valid for 36 months, and subject to any further terms and conditions of the issuer) and
    2. 1 x copy of the Saveful cookbook, A fridge full of recipes (valued at $12 each)
  2. with a total prize pool valued at $2,620.
  3. The prize is not exchange­able for oth­er goods or ser­vices and can­not be tak­en as cash.
  4. The prize can­not be trans­ferred to any oth­er per­son.
  5. Lost, stolen or damaged prizes will not be refunded or replaced by GISA.

Winners

  1.  The win­ners will be cho­sen by a judging panel comprised of 3 GISA staff members by Friday 27 February 2026.
  2. The judges have absolute discretion to determine the winners and the decision will be final.
  3. The win­ners will be noti­fied via email or direct mes­sage on Insta­gram by Friday 6 March 2026.
  4. The names of the winners and their winning photo or video submission will be published on the “Replace the Waste” Instagram channel, and the “Replace the Waste” website.
  5. The win­ners will have until 5pm Friday 20 March 2026 to accept their prize and provide shipping details to receive the prize via post. Prizes not claimed by this date will be for­feit­ed and passed on to anoth­er entrant.

Final con­di­tions

  1. If any act, omis­sion, event or cir­cum­stance occurs which is beyond the rea­son­able con­trol of GISA and which pre­vents GISA from com­ply­ing with these terms and con­di­tions, GISA will not be liable for any fail­ure to per­form or delay in per­form­ing its oblig­a­tions and reserves the right (sub­ject to any applic­a­ble law) to can­cel, ter­mi­nate, mod­i­fy or sus­pend the Competition.
  2. GISA, its employ­ees and agents will not be liable for any loss, dam­age or per­son­al injury what­so­ev­er (includ­ing but not lim­it­ed to direct, indi­rect or con­se­quen­tial loss) suf­fered or sus­tained in con­nec­tion with the Com­pe­ti­tion, the pro­mo­tion of the Com­pe­ti­tion or the use of any prize, except for any lia­bil­i­ty which can­not be exclud­ed by law.
  3. Instagram, its employ­ees and agents will not be liable for any loss, dam­age or per­son­al injury what­so­ev­er (includ­ing but not lim­it­ed to direct, indi­rect or con­se­quen­tial loss) suf­fered or sus­tained in con­nec­tion with the Com­pe­ti­tion, the pro­mo­tion of the Com­pe­ti­tion or the use of any prize, except for any lia­bil­i­ty which can­not be exclud­ed by law.
  4. GISA may col­lect per­son­al infor­ma­tion about entrants for the pur­pose of run­ning the Com­pe­ti­tion. Entry details remain the prop­er­ty of GISA and GISA has the right to publish them. Entrants con­sent to GISA collecting, using and disclosing their per­son­al infor­ma­tion pro­vid­ed in con­nec­tion with the Com­pe­ti­tion for the pur­pos­es of con­duct­ing the Com­pe­ti­tion, contacting winners, award­ing any prizes and pos­si­ble future promotions.

    GISA will:
    1. only collect personal information for the purposes listed in this above clause 24 and will ensure it is stored securely and protected from unauthorised access, use or disclosure;
    2. not disclose the personal information to third parties except for the administration of the Competition or as otherwise permitted under the Premier and Cabinet Circular no 12 – Information Privacy Principles;
    3. allow entrants to access and correct their personal information upon written request; and
    4. retain any personal information for as necessary for the purpose of conducting the Competition or as required by law, after which it will be destroyed or de-identified.
